One of the most extraordinary highlights of our 4D3N and 4D4N routes is the early morning encounter with whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) at Saleh Bay, Sumbawa. These gentle giants are the largest fish in the world, reaching lengths of up to 12 meters, yet they are completely harmless filter feeders.
We arrive at Saleh Bay at dawn (around 05:00-07:30 AM) when whale sharks are most active near the surface. You'll have approximately 1.5 hours to swim alongside these magnificent creatures. Our guides ensure a safe distance is maintained while giving you the best possible encounter.
Whale shark swimming is only available on our 4-day routes that pass through Saleh Bay:
• 4D3N Lombok → Labuan Bajo (Thursday to Sunday)
• 4D4N Labuan Bajo → Lombok (Sunday to Thursday)
The 3D2N Labuan Bajo trip does NOT include whale shark swimming as the route doesn't pass through Saleh Bay.
